I want to know which of the 2 is much better and would give me optimal performance for my pc. I am currently using IDE for my 2 HDDs and I find it very slow though I have P4 2.4 and 1.2G of memory. I am using Asustek P4V8X-X motherboard w/c supports both IDE and SATA connections.
Guys, do you know what is the transfer rate for IDE as against to SATA connectors? Which is one is better?
SATA is much much better for a computer,
The best thing about drives with a SATA connector is
1. YOu don't have to set the jumpers (It automatically does it for you)
2. It is MUCH faster then IDE, IDE is quite out of date, and depending on your system, you could have SATA speeds of 1.5 GB/S to 3.0GB/S depending on your motherboard, but both are faster then IDE
Also, if your computer is running slow, then you might wanna consider alternate methods, send me a message or add me to yahoo messenger and i could help you out...:)
Reply:The good news is that the SATA transfer rate is much better than that for the IDE connection.
The bad news is, of course, that you'll have to buy new hard drive(s) in order to use the SATA connections.
